Erik is a very pleasant, open and consistent teacher. I enjoy studying with him and plan to keep up regular practice. What suited me was his deep knowledge of the Turkish and Egyptian playing traditions. He also has a superb command of Indian and fusion styles, always gives an extra perspective on exercises and shows how elements are played differently in different styles. When I had general questions about percussion, he took out a frame drum and a riq and demonstrated. This greatly enriched my lessons and my artistic search.

I have been learning darbuka for a little over a month and I love both the process and the results. I used to think I had no sense of rhythm at all — thanks to Erik I found out that isn’t true. Lessons are very productive and interesting, thank you!
